EDITORIAL COORDINATOR

The Metropolitan Museum of Art, one of the world's finest museums, seeks an Editorial Coordinator to work in our Internal Communications Department. The work schedule is 4 days a week, and approximately 28 hours.  The Editorial Coordinator is responsible for the coordination and production for the Museum's staff newsletter, the Biweekly, including special editions and the Retirees' Biweekly. In addition, this position is responsible for supporting the Manager of Internal Communications in the drafting and circulation of other communications to staff. Other duties include requesting, gathering, editing and drafting material for each issue of the Biweekly; interacting with staff from all departments to uncover news and items of interest; formatting and laying out the newsletter's pages and working with Office Services to complete the preproduction process; and assisting the Manager of Internal Communications in the planning, research and completion of other internal communications and in the scheduling of meetings related to such communications. 

Successful candidates must possess at least 2 years of editing and/or writing experience. This person will have excellent organizational skills, a proven ability to do excellent work on deadline, as well as a strong interest in how a large institution functions and an enthusiasm for generating story ideas that would interest a wide range of staff. University Degree is required; knowledge of Word, Quark and Photoshop is preferred.
