Statistical analyses of c.10,000 visits to the "Anthropology resources
on the Internet" web site
(http://home.worldnet.fr/clist/Anthro/index.html) during February and
March 1999 have shown the following.

a) Browsers :
Microsoft 5 (found in stats since November '98) :1.3%
Netscape 5 (found in stats since March '99) :0.2%
Microsoft 4 :31.7%
Netscape 4 :42.0%
Microsoft 3 :9.7%
Netscape 3 :11.5%
Microsoft 2 :0.7%
Netscape 1 and 2 :2.3%
Opera 2, 3 :0.2%
Unknown :0.4%

b)Operating Systems :
Windows 95 :56.0%
Windows 98 :18.7%
Windows NT :10.1%
MacIntosh :9.1%
Windows 3.1 :3.6%
Others :1.6%
UNIX :0.8%
Windows CE (who were they ??):0.1%

The Netscape browsers tot up to 55.8% and the Microsoft ones to 43.4%.
Of more interest for Webmasters, some 25% of browsers are of v.1, 2 and
3 for such a culture related web guide.
This means one has to keep up "no frames" versions of Web sites.
This is why a "no frames" version will be maintained for "Anthropology
resources...".
The "frames" version will slowly develop into a DHTML version due to the
c.75% of browsers v.4 and over.
Updates will still be twice a month.
