The Bureau of Exhibitions, Museums, and Cultural Exchange at the San
Francisco International Airport is in the final stages of planning an
exhibition titled "Vacations: Outboard Motorboats from the Collection of
the Historical Society of Southern Florida". The exhibition will deal
with recreational activities associated with the pleasures of outboard
motorboating in Florida and on Lake Tahoe in the 1920's and 1950's. As
indicated by the title, we are borrowing a number of vintage outboard
boats and motors from the Historical Society of Southern Florida, which
forms the foundation for this exhibition.

At this juncture, we are continuing to inquire about collections and
collectors of objects whichrelate to the RECREATIONAL aspect of the subject:
Wool swimsuits, award(trophys and ribbons), relevant ephemera, relevant
sporting equipment(water skis, diving gear), shore-side activity memorabilia
(badmitton and croquet sets? picnic baskets? Vintage suntanning equipment?
Lawn darts, anyone?). We want to evoke the romantic and playful spirit
of 20's thru 50's waterside recreation.

If anyone has/knows of such a collection/collector and would be
willing to share their resources,we are obviously interested in making
contact. I will gladly forward an information packet, fact sheet, and
brochure about our program, and this exhibition. Please repsond using
one of the following formats:
