Institute of Museum and Library Services Director and Key Agency
Officials Take Part in American Association of Museums Annual Meeting in
Chicago, May 13 - May 17

Visit the IMLS Booth at the MuseumExpo, #330

Washington, DC--Anne-Imelda M. Radice, Ph.D., director of the Institute
of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), and other agency representatives,
will participate in various events during the American Association of
Museums annual meeting in Chicago, May 13-17. In addition, IMLS staff
will be available for questions at the booth #330. Below is a list of

Event Title: Grant Opportunities from the Institute of Museum and
Library Services

and community organizations have partnered to create impressive,
sustainable youth programs. How-to discussion groups cover topics such
as designing, evaluating, and sustaining effective youth programs;
creating partnerships; and disseminating results.

Event Title: Conservation Matters: The Public Dimension of Collections
Care

Description: Following the 2006 IMLS-funded report, the Heritage Health
Index, which noted urgent need for greater attention to the care of
America's collections, the Director of IMLS has made conservation a
priority. For several years, IMLS has funded educational components as
part of Conservation Project Support grants. In addition, the agency has
funded innovative conservation education projects in other programs.
Using these examples, and more general observations from their
experience, four senior museum professionals discuss the opportunities
and challenges of engaging the public in conservation projects.

Event Title: AAM Reception for Volunteers of Programs that Support
Excellence in Museums
