We are currently re-examining our membership rates, which have not changed
in over ten years. However, we are a small museum with no admission price,
no gift shop and free public programs. The only benefit to membership,
beyond pride of belonging, is you get our parent organization's quarterly
magazine, which includes a section on "Museum News." Since alot of our
members are also members of the parent group, obviously duplicate copies of
the magazine isn't a huge selling point. If you advance past base
membership, you get exhibit catalogs and more benefits as you go up. Our
membership is extremely loyal, but I question what might happen if we raise
rates without an added benefit.

What do other small museums do in similar circumstances? What are your
rates, currently (are your members happy with them?)? What sort of other
member incentives do you offer?

Thank you all!
