Hello, I am currently an M.A. student in sociology at the New School
Universtiy and I would like to have some discussions with anyone interested
in the fields of Art History and Sociology of the Arts. (I have an
undergraduate degree in Art History and Theory from the University of
Maryland, Baltimore County and studied for two semesters in the M.A.
program in Theory and Criticism at SUNY Stony Brook.)

I have designed a survey to help define what art means to differnt types of
people, the survey will serve as research for my M.A./Ph.D. studies so the
questions are broad and "large," and I would appreciate it if any of you
would be interested in taking the survey and/or passing it along to others,
or if you would be interested in discussing this topic here in this forum.

The invitation to participate in the survey is pasted below.

All the best
Elizabeth

Please take part in an on-line survey designed by Elizabeth Donovan
Stuelke, M.A. student in Sociology, New School University.

The survey deals with the subject of art and is intended to help understand
the importance of art to different types of people. It should take about
15 - 20 minutes to answer the mostly, open-ended questions.

Please forward!

You may cut and paste this invitation into a new e-mail and send it to any
group e-mail list(s) or individual(s) you think would be interested in
participating. This includes, but is not limited to: art historians,
sociologists, sociologists of the arts, artists, students in any of these
fields, people who frequently view art, art critics, etc.

All participation is voluntary, confidential, and private. Results will
serve as research to be used in the completion of M.A./Ph.D. degree
requirements and may be used in future publications. You will not be
contacted again as a result of your participation.*

Did I mention that the survey is fun! It will make you think! ... And maybe
re-think, what you thought you thought about art!

Thanks for your help!
Sincerely,
Elizabeth
