We have a couple of these at our museum, a process that was in use until the
later 1960s.

They are photoengravings. I suggest that you take them to a college art
department, and talk to people in the intaglio department--etchings,
drypoint, engraving on metal plate. A few proofs and you should be able to
select which images you need. A 3/4" frame all around the wood base will keep
the blankets from tearing. The edges of the plates might need to be bevelled.
Please let me know whatever results you get. Ours are not a priority, but
we'd like to know what works.
