Depending on the angle of repose neccessary to see the objects, you might consider creating muslin (or other appropriate fabric) cushions or snakes to cradle them.
Fill them with sterile sand, plastic beads as in bean bag chairs or metal weights. You can double layer the fabric etc. I have had success with both. A peruvian hand plaque was made to incline approx 40 deg and was secure from all sides. I have used snakes as mounts for round
bottomed pots. One can 'push' the stuffing around in the cushion to conform to the object.
