Full-time term position at Everglades National Park, not to exceed 13 
months. Appointment may be extended for up to 4 years
GS-1420-09/11(Salary: $42,149-66,291)

Job Duties:
The incumbent serves as the first archivist at the South Florida Collections 
Management Center (SFCMC), which manages the museum collections for Big 
Cypress National Preserve, Biscayne National Park, Dry Tortugas National 
Park and Everglades National Park. Combined, these four south Florida parks 
have archival collections in excess of 2.8 million items. The position is 
supervised by the SFCMC’s museum curator.

The incumbent will design and manage a professional archives program for the 
south Florida parks, within the existing museum management program. The 
incumbent utilizes professional archives principals and techniques to 
accession, appraise, process, organize, describe, catalog and preserve 
archival collections. Responsible for implementing archives backlog 
cataloging projects, including planning, reporting, and supervising staff, 
interns and volunteers. Develops and implements procedures to improve 
intellectual and physical accessibility of the archives. Incumbent serves as 
the SFCMC liaison with the South Florida Natural Research Center (SFNRC) to 
coordinate development of information management policies, standards and 
procedures to ensure long-term preservation of ecosystem research (including 
electronic data) and integration with the archives program.
