Museum of the Southwest (MSW) seeks an enterprising and energetic Executive Director to advance its dynamic public programming, oversee the multidisciplinary campus, and lead planning for renovations and a capital campaign. MSW comprises three cross-disciplinary museums on a five-acre campus: Turner Memorial Art Museum, Durham Children's Museum, and Blakemore Planetarium. http://www.museumsw.org. The museums are undergoing major renovations in three phases. Phase I is complete and comprised the complete renovation of the Art Museum. Phase II, under discussion, will update the interior of the Children's Museum, marrying art and science in hands-on exhibits.  Phase III will address the Planetarium/Science Museum needs and further expand public spaces. Support a staff of 22 , oversee a very active annual schedule of public and special events, and an annual budget of $1.5 million. OPPORTUNITIES: Build on MSW's success and strengths by creating dynamic programs, revitalized spaces, exhibitions, and enhanced visitor experiences to build audiences.  Work with staff to enhance the art collection and education programs, grow endowment and build the base of support.  Expand relationships in Midland, a vibrant, fast-growing, philanthropic Sunbelt city. REQUIRED: 5 years' experience directing a museum or heading a department in a larger museum. Minimum M.A. preferred.  Sociable, collaborative, strategic leader with fundraising ability who appreciates the friendly spirit of West Texas. Expertise in visual art, children's or science museums (particularly astronomy). Art expertise a plus. Should possess active interest in the intersection of all three Museum disciplines.
