Phillip Ward in his pamphlet "Getting the Bugs Out" notes that
silverfish may not be a major cause of damage; however, they do feed on
starchy substances (particularly, the bindings of books). They are
indicators of poor environmental conditions (too damp, overheating, poor
housekeeping, etc.). Correcting the environment is the thing to do--the
silverfish will leave of their own accord.

Hello and help please!
We received a call regarding a private collection.
This one involves silverfish in an assortment of antique books, papers
and paintings. We have never had this issue in our facility and could
not answer the patrons questions regarding treatment. Can anyone
offer
advice and or treatment options??? Please and thank you.
