For our renowned auction house client in San Francisco and Los Angeles,
we are seeking a Director/Specialist for the Jewelry Department.  The
successful applicant will oversee all functions of acquisitions and
sales, including the solicitation of property from private collectors;
evaluation of all incoming properties; supervision of preparing, editing
and proofing of catalogues; inform and assist all clients and
prospective clients with pre and post-auction inquiries; other duties as
necessary.  The successful applicant will also conduct on and off-site
appraisals; negotiate contracts; supervise the Jr. Specialist; develop
further client relations; oversee in-department functions and
procedures; and meet acquisition and marketing goals.  The ideal
applicant will have excellent communications, networking and managing
skills and a thorough knowledge of gem identification, styles and
periods.  Graduate Gemologist degree and valid CA driver's license
required.  The ability to travel frequently is essential.  Please send
