For our internationally renowned auction house client, we are seeking a
Specialist in Books & Manuscripts.  The successful candidate will work with
the Department Head to create and maintain client relationships and
consignments; research and catalogue works for public and private sales;
review inquiries for consignment opportunities; serve as a primary liaison
for outside experts; prepare condition reports and conservation evaluations;
coordinate marketing efforts; assist in pre-sale exhibition set-up; assist
clients in the galleries during sale week; other duties as necessary.  Some
travel required.  The ideal candidate will have strong general knowledge of
books, manuscripts, documents and related items and at least 2-4 years work
as a Junior Specialist or in a related field.  BA in art history required,
MA preferred.  Excellent communications, interpersonal and organizational
skills essential.  Salary 45-55K with excellent benefits. Please send
