Hi,
I agree.  It seems unnecessary to do anything to the quilt and would
comprimise it's integrity.  Its more modern quilting and plyester batting
is part of its history.  We recently displayed a quilt that was started in
the 19th century and finished just last year.  It was one of everyone's
favorite quilts in our show.
