Imagining Scotland through Cultural Policy

Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh

Wednesday 10th April 2013, 10am - 5.30pm

On St Andrews day 2003 First Minister Jack McConnell formally recognised the importance of Scotland’s cultural policy with a commitment to “make the development of our creative drive the next major enterprise for our society”. A decade later, and with a referendum on independence imminent, Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh, is hosting a colloquium in order to consider the political, historical, practical and critical issues that have arisen from the development and implementation of cultural policy in Scotland. The colloquium draws together current research and thinking with contributions from people working in universities, policy and government, and will provide an opportunity for anyone researching or working in the cultural sector in Scotland to meet, debate and exchange ideas.
