Hi,

The Virginia Museum of Natural History is seeking an Education Manager to strategize, plan, and implement education programs for the Virginia Museum of Natural History, a state museum. This position reports to me, the head of outreach.

DUTIES:   Coordination of an annual science education institute that supports the Science Standards of Learning; service on exhibit development teams; supervision of at least two outreach educators; education kits development; outreach education and in-museum program development.

TO QUALIFY:   Candidates must have a university degree in science or science education and a minimum of three years’ museum or classroom experience working with a wide range of audiences.  Must be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, including the ability to
assist in grant submissions.  Must be able to represent museum on statewide committees and present sessions at professional conferences.  Must be willing to travel and have a valid driver’s license.  Must be proficient in use of word processing and spreadsheet software.

PREFERRED:   Familiarity with applied uses of information technology to enhance learning experiences and familiarity with project management helpful.  Supervisory experience and Master’s degree preferred. Starting salary range is $33,811 - $40,316, depending on experience.
