Cheryl:
Haven't much time to go into depth with this at the moment, but I purchased
a D50 for our museum last year and couldn't be happier with it.

Having done a lot of photography over the years with 35mm and larger, I can
tell you that final image quality rests in the optics far more than
the film, or in this case megapixels, and Nikon still has among the best.

The D50 is a bit of a shrunk down version of the popular D70 with slightly
different sensors, and fewer bells and whistles, however, I doubt
that you'd miss them in a museum environment. The D50 is also considerably
less expensive and a great choice for museums, in my opinion.

As for the D60; I know Canon has an EOS D60 that has been highly reviewed,
but since I've not had my hands on one so I can't attest to it. Nikon was
supposed to announce a D60 late last year, but so far I've not seen one.

Best of luck with your choice!
