Lecturer in Museum & Gallery Studies (SK208/08)

Closing date: 25 August 2008

£34,793 - £42,791 pa

Applications are invited to contribute to our long-established Museum
and Gallery Studies postgraduate programme at a time of expansion and
development. We are seeking a dynamic and highly motivated individual to
join a team of three Museum and Gallery Studies lecturers within a
school of 14 research-active academic staff. Your skills should
complement rather than duplicate the interests of existing staff but a
broad interest in audiences and museum management is required.
Experience in one or more of the following areas would be an advantage:
curatorship of modern and contemporary art, IT in museums, museological
theory, international developments in museums. You may also be asked to
contribute, where appropriate, to undergraduate teaching in the School.

St Andrews is the leading centre for Museum and Gallery Studies in
Scotland and provides both full-time and part-time programmes. Students
come from all over the world and from a wide range of academic
backgrounds, including the sciences as well as the humanities. For
further details please see our website: www.st-andrews.ac.uk/~mgstud

The School of Art History gained a 5A rating in the last RAE and is
looking for someone whose research and publications will maintain our
excellent profile. A good publications record is therefore essential.
You will have, or be very close to completing, a PhD or have an
outstanding record of academic publications and should have professional
museum/gallery experience. Experience of teaching at university level
would be advantageous.
