Just a thought....My sister is a mortician, she graduated from Carl Sandberg in Galesberg, IL a few years back. I know Illinois had a really interesting museum on Funeral customs and such in Springfield. http://www.funeralmuseum.org/index-2.html  .  They had an excellent resource library and document collection. Perhaps they would be interested.
