Education Coordinator--The Wisconsin Maritime Museum is seeking a full-time
person to supervise a series of increasingly popular programs and to develop
new programs associated with a major expansion scheduled for completion in
2003.  Current initiatives include the USS COBIA Overnight Program (an
educational program aboard a World War II submarine), guided tours of the
COBIA and the Museum, and a variety of other programs both afloat and
ashore.  The Education Coordinator is responsible for running these programs
under the direction of the Museum’s Curator.  Duties include recruiting,
training, scheduling, and supervision of full-time and part-time staff.
Experience with in-house and outreach school programs is a plus.

Minimum qualifications include:  a bachelors degree (masters preferred) in
relevant field; 2 years experience in museum education; effective oral and
written communication skills; ability to manage people through motivation
and direct supervision; ability to maintain effective working relationships
with staff, volunteers, and the public; computer proficiency; and an
ethusiastic and energetic approach to museum education.  Experience in
maritime history and/or historic ship interpretation is desired.  This
salaried position requires weekend hours and offers excellent benefits.

The Wisconsin Maritime Museum is the only AAM accredited maritime museum on
