The Museum Loan Network, a new program announced last October funcded by the Joh
n S. and James L. Knight Foundation and
The Pew Charitable Trusts to promote collection sharing among Americna museums a

Surveying Grants ($10,000 range) were awarded to:

The Art Institute of Chicago to survey Asian Art; 20th Century painting & sculpt

The Brooklyn Museum to survey African artworks
The Detroit Institute of Arts to survey their collection (in consultation with o

Travel Grants($1,750-$3,500 range) were awarded to:

Williams College Museum of Art


In addition, the first Implementation Grant($10,000) was awarded to The Museum o
f Art and Archaeolog at the University of
Missouri-Columbia for the loan of a Mark Rothko painting from the National Galle
ry of Art.
