I am posting this announcement for a member institution. Although the
announcement does not include salary information, I am told by the interim
director that it is negotiable up to $50,000/year. Please do not contact me
regarding the job opening.

Red Earth, Inc., a non-profit organization based in Oklahoma City
which promotes and encourages the preservation of Native American cultures,
is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Executive
Director. Red Earth, Inc. oversees the day-to-day operations of the Red
Earth Indian Center (a museum housed in the Kirkpatrick Air Space & Science
Museum at Omniplex) and produces numerous events including the annual Red
Earth Festival each June in Oklahoma City.

Candidates must possess at least five years management experience
and have knowledge of Native American cultures. A college degree (or
equivalent experience) is required and a background in non-profit
organizations, fundraising, budget management, museum and special event
management is preferred.

Red Earth Indian Center maintains a growing permanent collection of
art and cultural items dating from pre-history to present day cultures. The
museum offers educational classes, workshops, symposiums and cultural events
for children and adults.

The Red Earth Festival is the winner of numerous awards including
"Oklahoma's Outstanding Event" as presented by the Oklahoma Department of
Tourism and the 1994 National Cultural Heritage Award presented by the
Travel Industry Association of America. It has been voted one of the Top 100
Events in North America by the American Bus Association and has attracted
national and international attention. More than 1000 volunteers plan and
produce the Festival.

The Red Earth Executive Director reports directly to the Executive
Committee of the Red Earth Board of Directors, and is responsible for all
personnel matters.

Individuals interested in applying are asked to send a resume and
cover letter to: Red Earth Search Committee, 2100 NE 52nd Street, Oklahoma
City, OK 73111. Phone calls will not be accepted. Red Earth is a private
non-profit 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to promote, preserve and
promulgate the rich traditions of American Indian history and cultures.
