Museum-lers:

The Kansas Museum of History in Topeka is organizing an exhibit on Vice and Reform in Kansas for 2001. One of the topics we would like to discuss in this exhibit is gambling (both historic and up to the present).

I have been trying to locate institutions with gambling materials such as keno and pharo. These were popular games in boom towns (cattle towns and mining towns) throughout the 19th and early 20th century. I have tried some of the most obvious places locally and nationally and have found that most instiutions have some of these games but they are in permanent exhibits.

If you know of museums, casinos, etc that may have enough material to share (loan) I would love to hear about them!

If you prefer to respond off list, my email is: [log in to unmask]

Thank you in advance,
