I would support Tim's point that we should do something affirmative to let
the world know that we condemn the destruction of cultural artifacts and
would support some attempts at rescuing Iraqi national treasures. Perhaps we
can begin with a short e-mail to our Congressional reps stating our position
of condemnation and requesting them to conduct a Congressional inquiry into
this matter. Simultaneously, we could contact UNESCO to see what specific
help we, or our institutions, could give.

Subject: Whoa...

Okay...let's all take a step back, and three deep breathes.

One....two....three.

I've stayed out of this after the very begining because it could veer
into exactly what it has.

Looting of priceless artifcats is bad. We can all agree to that.

What we need to do is put our efforts together to try and help in
whatever way we can. Maybe we, as a group, can make our views known to
the world? Find a worthy cause and donate time/money/supplies?

It is a shame that all of this happened, but we shouldn't turn against
each other. Let's work together.

Tim
