The UK based Crimean War Research Society is conducting a census of the
surviving Russian cannon taken as trophies at the fall of the siege of
Sebastopol. In Australia I have located eight.

In 1859 Britain presented them to the self-governing colonies. At that
time New Zealand was considered, with the Australian colonies and Fiji to
be part of Australasia.

The surviving guns in Australia are located either at State military HQs
or in Public Parks or Gardens.

I suspect that Auckland would have received a pair. Can anyone there
confirm please?
