I've been using an EasyLog EL-USB-2-LCD data logger for the last month, and I like it. Depending on the vendor, prices range from $99 to $102.

The unit is portable, so I can monitor a large storage room from different quadrants. It plugs into the USB slot on my PC, which is how I download the Temp and RH data and save it for record-keeping/monitoring. The datalogger also displays temp and RH on the LCD screen while it is in a logging interval, so you don't have to upload it on your PC to know what is going on.

I can program the datalogger to log/collect data over 24 hr interval, or for the whole weekend. I tend to upload the data to my PC that frequently, so I haven't run into the datalogger having any memory limitation issues. The software it uses is a free download, and it can display the data in statistical or graph form.

I am not sure how it compares to models in the $600-$1000 range, as I have never worked with one of those.
