Museum Registrar

The Hagley Museum and Library, a historic Brandywine Valley not-for-profit institution
specializing in collecting, preserving and interpreting the history of American
enterprise, is currently recruiting to fill the position of Registrar, who will report
to the Curator of Collections and Exhibits.   The Registrar will be responsible for the
preparation and administration of all collections management paperwork and Vernon
database records associated with a 50,000+ diverse artifact collection from decorative
and fine arts to industrial tools and machinery.  The Registrar is also responsible for
processing all loans and organizing collections storage.  The Registrar supervises the
Curatorial Assistant, interns and volunteers.

A Bachelor’s degree in Museum studies, history, or related field required; appropriate
master's degree highly desirable.  Prior experience in museum registration required. 
Knowledge of legal issues associated with collections management highly desirable. 
Requires stamina and ability to lift and move artifacts, legible handwriting, accurate
typing, computer experience with databases, and excellent organizational skills. 
Experience in computerized collections management required.  Familiarity with the Vernon
systems collection management database highly desirable.   Experience with digital
imaging required.  Valid driver's license and availability of car necessary to perform
duties as outlined above.
