Dear Colleagues:

A little over a year ago, we used Museum-L and other online museum communities to conduct a survey about collections inventories in connection with a book proposal on the topic. Since then, we are pleased to have received a publication agreement. To optimize the impact of the book, we aim to include case studies showing inventories in action. The purpose of this post is to invite folks to submit a case study. It's easy and quick at this stage!

Submission Guidelines
Target submission date: On or before February 24, 2018

Relevant Collections: Cultural heritage, preferably object collections.

Where to send submissions or questions: [log in to unmask]

Submission content:

1.Institution name
This may be omitted if including it would deter your submission.

2. Collection profile
Please generally describe the collection, such as mediums, time period, and cultures represented.

3. Database or other content management system, if used

4. 3 sentences about your inventory project
Tell us about a challenge, solution, innovation, process, lessons learned, main outcome, etc. All stories are welcome. Here are a few salient topics:
-inventorying with a new database or using other technology as an inventory tool
-first full inventory, or first inventory in a long time
-role of inventory in connection with armed conflict
-inventory and climate change, natural disaster, emergency preparedness
-implementation of a routine, cyclical inventory policy—for example, how the institution implements a 100% -inventory over X years
-inventorying digital collections
-inventory and unlawful possession or sale of collections
-inventory on a shoestring budget

Thank you very much for your time. We look forward to hearing from you.

Best,
Bethany Romanowski
