Dear Listers,
I am one of the many undergraduate lurkers on this list and I just
wanted to thank Indigo Nights for his/her excellent response to this
ongoing wrangle over a seemingly innocent post. We are all here to learn
from each other and students are often the most ready to admit this fact.
There are the lazy among us, just as there are the lazy among professors,
administrators, and curators. That is beside the point. This list is not
a formal academic environment, it is an informal arena for discussion and
support. The internet is very anonymous and e-text can be easily
misinterpreted. I feel, that this means that we need to watch our posts
very carefully and err toward "agreeing to disagree" rather than attacking
others individually or with broad generalizations. I don't mean censoring
ourselves, but merely being conscious of the other people who use this
great resource.

Now, I'll go back to lurking quietly,
Best of luck to all,
Anne
