currently, i am doing some research on an exhibition in london in the
1950s, for which all the documentation is destroyed. from
contemporary correspondence i know that the time&life offices in new
york, had a set of negatives (ca 150) of this exhibition. i recently
had a picture agency researching this for me, and they now came up
with 12 pictures only, exactly the pictures that had appeared in
time in 1953, and were thus available in a hard-copy. the negative
numbers suggest there are more photographs, also the subject choice,
and the availability of these 12 pictures suggests that the other
negatives are there as well.
however, the picture agency said it would be a waste of money to try
and have a check through the negatives, and will not do it.
how can i get access to those remaining negatives? time&life
picture sales does not seem to correspond with ordinary people, so
there is no point asking them.
does anybody have any advice? -or name? -or friend? -or experience
with those archives?
thanks for any help
