I get a lot of responses in the vein of "Oh you work in a museum! That must be wonderful to be around all those treasures all day. I bet you never want to leave." Often followed by, "Can I come in Saturday for a tour. You'll be there anyway, right?"

Subject: [MUSEUM-L] a question for the list

Morning listers!

I'm doing a brief, informal survey to get some back-up for what I see trending amongst my own co-workers. This is for a blog post for our institution's website.

When someone in a (non-institutional) social setting asks what you do for a living and you respond - what is the most common reaction you receive?

Thanks!
