I just received a class action notice about diskettes--something about 
degrading data when reading disk(ette)s or transferring data to/from 
disk(ette)s.  The defendants are HP and Compaq.  Amazingly, this is 
regarding equipment dating back to 1995--practically another era in 
computing terms.

The notification postcard didn't explain the problem very well, but you 
might be able to find something on-line.
