Hi Diane.

I would like you to know that I also have a BS in Biology with a research
background and decided to go the museum route. I got a Master's in Museum
Studies last year. Since then I have been unable to get even an interview
at any museum. I couldn't even get an interview for a position that paid
minium wage. Most curator positions in Arizona require a PhD in the field
and make no mention of a museum "degree" but rather prefer museum
EXPERIENCE.

In my life, my family comes first and I don't have the dedication to work
for peanuts at a museum job while my family suffers. Hence, I am quite happy
getting paid well (relatively) at a research job I enjoy instead. Meanwhile
my museum degree is utilized in other ways (ie. design aspects incorporated
into scientific posters and a richer enjoyment of museums that I visit on
my personal time).

Just my two cents worth.

Heather
