The Tech Museum of Innovation
Full-Time Position Available
Retail Store Buyer

The mission of The Tech Museum of Innovation is to serve as an educational
tesource that engages people of all ages and backgrounds in exploring and
experiencing technologies affecting their lives, and to inspire young
people to become innovators in developing technologies of the future.

The Buyer will select and maintain merchandise for the Tech Store, which
will support the mission of The Tech and the Tech Store.  The buyer will
select high quality, educational merchandise that will enhance The Tech's
image, enabling the visitor to purchase an extension of his/her visit and
generate revenue.

Responsibilities:

- Selects, orders and re-orders appropriate products in stock levels which
will attribute to the profitability of the Tech Store.
- Prepares and maintains sales and stocks plans in an open-to-buy format
with the Store Manager.
- Establishes vendor relationships and favorable terms.
- Manages neat and organized paperwork for accounting purposes.
- Maintains awareness of market trends to assure strong product line and
cutting edge product.
- Develops new product with the Store Manager in conjunction with the goals
of the The Tech.
- Works with Shipping/Receiving Clerk to assure timely processing of
merchandise.
- Sets excellent merchandise standards by example and by working with the
Store Supervisor and Store Manager.
- Maintains gross margin and stock turn levels determined with Store Manager.

Requirements:

- 5+ years of retail buying experience
- Excellent communication and administrative skills
- Strong leadership ability; self starter and proactive
- Product development experience
- Computer literate:  Windows, MS Office, and retail POS systems
- Museum or non-profit experience preferred
