JOB ANNOUNCEMENT

Collections Manager--Museum of Transportation, Brookline, MA

Museum of Transportation, a history museum focusing on antique automobiles
housed in a 19th century carriage house, seeks a Collections Manager to
work under the supervision of the Curator.

Responsibilities will include the movement of all objects in and out of
both on and off-site storage facilities; operation and maintenance of our
Collection in Use vehicles; supervision of routine condition reporting
program for vehicle collection; fabrication of exhibit components,
installation and disassembly; and creation of proper storage including the
assembling of shelving units.

Requirements:  BA in a museum-related field, prior work experience with
museum collections perhaps in the capacity of Preparator, basic carpentry
skills, technical skills and the physical ability necessary to operate
historic vehicles, drivers license and ability to operate a ramp truck.
Applicants with the interest and technical inclination necessary to learn
these skills will also be considered.  Ability to lift heavy objects is
required.
