 Job Summary:
 
 Responsible for the care, maintenance, and interpretation of museum
 collections for a small history/natural history museum.  Cares for and
 maintains museum exhibits.  In concert with other museum staff plans and
 installs in-house exhibits.
 
 
 Job Duties:
 
 Responsible for monitoring all aspects of collections management and
 collections policy.
 
 Designs and installs in-house exhibits and books traveling exhibits for
 and from the museum.
 
 Reviews insurance policies and prepares contracts and agreements for
 traveling exhibits, loans and collections.
 
 Stays current on conservation methods, legaltopics, and museum
 information to advise staff and public.
 
 Acts in a supervisory capacity of one or more in the performance of these
 duties.
 
 Contacts potential donors.
 
 Approves contracts of gift, tempoary deposits, and loans.
 
 Trains and supervises volunteers in the collections/exhibit area.
 
 Gives public presentations to local and area entities.
 
 Works in museum shop using hand tools and power tools for exhibit
 preparation.
 
 Will work on Saturdays on a rotaional basis.
 
 Performs other duties as required.
 
 
 Background:
 
 Required: a bachelors degree in natural history, history, or museum
 studies and at least one year of employmeny experience in a museum or
 similar setting.  Preferred: and advanced degree in museum studies.
 
 
 Salary:  $21,000 a year plus full benefits.
