Linda, you may want to try to the Hagley Museum and Library in
Wilmington, DE. They have an extensive collection on American industry,
I understand.

Subject: seeking manufacturing info

Hello--

For an industrial history exhibition in Amsterdam, NY, we're seeking
information on several manufacturing processes and have had little luck
in local archives or secondary publications. Although the exhibit
focuses primarily on workers, we're including a section on the
processes themselves. I'm hoping someone on the list could steer me
towards explanations and/or photographs of the following: broommaking
in a factory setting and knitted underwear manufacturing, both from
the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Any help would be
appreciated! Please feel free to respond off list.
