SPECIAL EVENTS/VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR
MUSEUM OF CONTEMPORARY ART, SAN DIEGO

MCA San Diego is looking for someone with strong organizational and events-
management skills to fill the position of Special Events/Volunteer
Coordinator.  We cannot pay relocation expenses, so the preference will be for
a candidate in the San Diego/Southern California region.

The position reports to the Development Director and works closely with the
6-member development team; responsibilities include design and management of
all Museum-organized special events from start to finish.  Types of events
include members' previews, special donor dinners, donor prospect or
solicitation luncheons, cocktail parties, etc.  The position is also serves as
an important liaison between the Museum staff and the corps of volunteers.

We are looking for someone who has good "people" skills, works well under
pressure and is able to manage multiple tasks concurrently, understands basic
concepts of event management, can responsibly manage budgets, is willing to
solicit free or in-kind services from caterers and vendors whenever possible,
and has an interest in contemporary art or museums.  B.A. degree is preferred,
or a commensurate level of relevant experience.
