Lee,

This is the sort of thing that sadly happens when someone takes an
object to someone who is not knowledgable in either the object type
and materials or the proper way to approach an issue that requires
"repair".

Here is a very good web site that is a great primer on Doll
restoration and conservation:

I have conserved several dolls in my career and they are really
interesting objects!
