POSITION NUMBER:    55841                 PAY BAND:  04                   BAND RANGE:  $24,635-$45,578

 

MINIMUM STARTING SALARY FOR NEW HIRE:  $26,104

INTERNAL APPLICANTS:  PRT's Promotional Increase Policy Will Apply.

 

This is a full time, permanent field position, which works a forty-hour rotating schedule, including weekends and holidays as scheduled. 

 

JOB PURPOSE:

Under general supervision, plans, promotes and conducts tours, programs, workshops and activities for the park visitor.  Promotes the park, the Park System and the state through presentations, newspaper articles and other media appearances.  Assists with park administrative, operation and maintenance activities.   Develops and maintains trails and exhibits.  Conducts research in areas relative to Hampton Plantation State Historic Site to enhance the interpretation and management of the resources.  Responsible for cataloging and inventory of specimens and artifacts.  Performs law enforcement activities within his/her authority.  Coordinates volunteers in conducting workshops and other park projects.   

 

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

A Master's degree or a bachelor's degree and two years experience in the interpretation, public history, or the museum field.

 

** Candidates MUST specifically meet these required qualifications or an equivalent combination of education and experience to be considered for this position. 

 

ADDITIONAL PERFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

Ability to relate well to the general public, research and deliver program information in positive manner.  Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.  Position requires medium to heavy lifting, walking and standing on uneven terrain, crawling and working at heights; Exposure to weather conditions, cleaning agents and other materials used in maintaining park facilities and grounds.  Must possess or be able to obtain a valid SC Driver's License.
