ASSISTANT MANAGER, ADMINISTRATION

The Getty Conservation Institute (GCI), located in Los Angeles, California,
is one of the operating programs of the J. Paul Getty Trust and serves the
international field of conservation of works of art and physical cultural
heritage.  Activities include scientific research, education and training,
dissemination of information and field projects.

Reporting to the Assistant Director, the Assistant Manager will provide
administrative management support at the GCI focusing on recruiting, visa &
immigration, leaves of absence, new hire training & orientations, HR system
reporting, providing guidance to staff, conflict resolution, employee
relations, and temporary staffing.  A principal responsibility for this
individual will be the management of recruiting for program and support
staff.  S/he will screen/track resumes; conduct interviews, identify
leading candidates and make salary recommendations.  Additionally, s/he
will implement J. Paul Getty Trust policies and procedures at the GCI and
occasionally establish administrative operating policies and procedures.
This individual will maintain frequent and open communication with Getty
Trust HR and serve as a resource for GCI staff with personnel questions.
Regular processes that this individual will administer include the annual
performance review & merit increase process, as well as the bi-weekly
timesheet review and payroll distribution.

The ideal candidate should possess excellent communication skills, both
written and oral.  S/he should be logical, flexible, trustworthy,
optimistic, outgoing, conscientious and patient.  A Bachelor's degree in
business, communications or an equivalent combination of training and
experience required.  A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience working
in a professional setting required.  Experience working in a cultural or
non-profit organization preferred.

Mid-point of starting salary range is approximately $55,000, commensurate
with experience.  Excellent benefits package.
