Robert,

The Smithsonian Institution Research Information System (SIRIS), has an
excellent (of course) collection of stereographs (in fact, photographs,
manuscripts, fieldnotes...) which can be accessed via:

telnet://siris.si.edu

It's an excellent resource for any ethnographic, anthropological and historical
material for the Americas. I've been using it extensively for the last two
months and I'm still amaze at the vastness of archival material that resides at
the Smithsonian (I knew they had a lot but WOW!!).

You can find out more about SIRIS and their scope of collection, at their Net
site

http://www.si.edu/resource/library/start.htm

Hope this helps.
