I have used this for none-work related estimations (family owned a
business).

http://www.eventageous.com/planning_guides/peoplecalc.htm

I will however note that if you have not done so already, you need to also
consider egress and fire codes for your area... I am not familiar with East
Coast codes and laws, so I would contact your Fire Inspector . Don't worry,
their capacity limits is always WAY more than you would stuff in the room,
so it should not really effect your calculations.

Cheers!

Sarah

I am doing some pro bono work for a local church/advocacy group in
Philadelphia. They will complete new construction in March and are hoping
to open their chapel and meeting/event space for special event rentals and
as practice/performance space for local non-profit art and performance
groups in order to create a new income stream. Are there any
rules-of-thumb for estimating seating capacity?
