You may look for a label printer which can produce thermo transfer 
prints on Tyvek labels (e.g. brillon, up to 100mm large). The print is 
very durable. I havn't heard of printing pictures that way but I think 
there should be possibility. You may also print bar code very easy on 
the same label.
