I gather there is no central clearing house for museums with requests
to acquire items or need to deaccession. The National Park Service
uses a central clearing house.

Would such a service be practical or even possible? A national
registry would be of invaluable service.

Are there any cases of museums establishing mutual support agreements
in this area?

Small, emerging museums such as ours would benefit greatly from such
arrangements and large institutions may find many smaller museums
useful outlets and sometimes resources for donated items capable of
enhancing a collection.

By the way, should your museum not need to add donated items of a
military nature to your collection, please give us consideration.
