We used CFSound, it is an easy to use system that works using a compact
flash card for sound files. We ran it for a couple of years with no
problems at all. A simple push button (from Radio Shack) and a powered
computer speaker complete the system. I don't remember the exact cost,
but I think it was less than $200.

As I recall, I edited it using a free editing program that I found on
the web, copied it to the chip, and I was in business. You should edit
the file so that there is no "dead" air at the start, that way the sound
will start instantly with the first push of the button.

Subject: [MUSEUM-L] Exhibit Sound System

We are putting together a small exhibit and required to have a sound
system to provide information to those visiting the exhibit with a
hearing disability.
   Does
anyone on the list have any information on various digital audio
record/play system, speaker, interactive buttons, etc. that would be
necessary?

I was thinking of a simple CD system, but it would likely walk out the
door.
  So
we are looking at something more stable and secure, with the interactive
button concept. We would appreciate any contact, recommendation and
cost. Thank you in advance for your time and assistance.
