Position:

Classification:
Permanent position with hourly wage, benefits and vacation.
Member of the Technical Service Department
Supervisor:  Director of Exhibits

Basic Function:
The Systems Designer will report to the Director of Exhibits
and will work with the Exhibit Development Department, and
the Exhibit Design team.
*provide support to floor teams, and exhibits workshop.
*provide for inventory and maintaining all tools and equipment
required for a systems design work station.
*provide support for the Health Museum of Cleveland computer
and phone systems.
*maintain a current file of suppliers and be responsible for
ordering all systems design electronic supplies.
*instruct the audio visual staff and weekend staff on the
operation and maintenance of electronic exhibit systems.

Qualifications:
A degree in electronics with two years work experience in
systems design and programming.  Must be able to design and build
solid state circuitry.  Must be able to write and install
interactive audio-visual controller programs.  Should have a
familiarity with MAC and IBM formats.  Must have the creative
ability to work from the concept level to operating prototype.
Should be able to design and fabricate required black box enclosures.

Description:
The System Designer will work with outside design teams and
Health Museum designers to create electronic elements of
exhibits.  This includes total design of hardware, accompanying
software programs, installation, debugging, and support to AV
maintenance of exhibit systems.  The System Designer will
coordinate with the exhibit developer and exhibit designer
to carry electronic design forward on production schedule
and will review all technologies and recommend their inclusion
into future design, keeping the Museum current in exhibit
techniques.
