They might have more luck with the command: SET MUSEUM-L CONCEAL
The syntax for all the SET commands is: SET <listname> <option>

At the risk of opening a can of electronic worms, I would like to a
express serious objection to the assumption that personal privacy
is *not* the default condition. I have no objection to MUSEUM-L
subscribers being able to find my address, which is the real reason
for the REVIEW command. It saves the list a lot of "Hey Barbara,
where *are* you?" traffic, and lets subscribers get an idea of who
is reading their notes.

However, when I signed up for this list, I had no intention of
supplying my name and virtual address to any directory that came
along. That's a naive point of view, perhaps, since Mr. Bridge
et al. could just as easily have REVIEWed the list without my
knowledge, just as he could fetch our OfficeVision directory and
include all Smithsonian staff with a few keystrokes. This kind
of thing is, unfortunately, very easy to do.

But from the potential consumer's point of view -- if I
were to get a directory of museum staff online, I would
much rather have a directory of *willing* participants, who
volunteered to have their names included knowing that they would
probably start getting extra correspondence from total strangers,
than one where half the people I wrote to would respond, "How the
heck did you get *my* address?!"

Just my two paranoid cents. Your milage may vary -- however I
do believe that I will CONCEAL myself on this list until the
directory harvest has occurred, as a matter of principle. Dave,
if you already got my address from SICHAT-L, the SI OV directory,
or elsewhere, please remove it. You can call me if you would
like to discuss this further.

Still willing to sign notes and include addresses and phone
numbers for colleagues:
