To quote John Chadwick's message from 4/14:

"Due to a dissertation defense followed by the Museums and the Web
conference, I will be changing the list from moderated to unmoderated on
Wednesday. Moderating the list is time consuming, but it has prevented some
commercial e-mail from slipping through. Please show spammers the respect
they deserve -- off the list that is. ;-)

I will switch the list back to moderated sometime after April 27th."

John has done a great job preventing these messages from reaching list
members. In his absence, I'm sure we'll see more. Please be patient until
his return, and simply delete whatever spam you may receive. Things should
be spam-free again in a couple of weeks.
