Inspired by the sessions you saw or heard about at the American Association
of Museums (AAM) Annual Meeting this year? Looking to discuss issues not
addressed? Interested in sharing your work in audience research and
evaluation with colleagues from across the country? Then submit a program
proposal to the Committee on Audience Research and Evaluation (CARE) and
help build “Bridges to the World” at the 2003 AAM Annual Meeting in
Portland, Oregon.

Next year’s theme offers an array of opportunities to discuss audience
research and evaluation issues, and the new proposal form even includes
evaluation under the strategic area of “Interpretation.” WE NEED YOU to
share your insights and expertise by proposing sessions for this meeting.

The deadline for submitting program proposals for CARE sponsorship is July
1. Programs sponsored by a Standing Professional Committee (SPC) such as
CARE have the best chance of being accepted by the AAM National Program
Committee. Plus CARE can assist you by identifying the latest trends and
issues, helping you locate potential speakers, offering a peer review to
develop and enhance your proposal, and working with other SPCs to co-
sponsor sessions and improve your chances for being included in the final
program. You can submit a proposal for sessions in a range of formats from
75-minute sessions featuring a variety of speakers (including “nuts-and-
bolts” Sunrise Sessions) to 30-minute, one-person poster presentations.

To get a copy of the program proposal form, go to www.aam-
us.org/proposal2003/index.htm. There you will also find information about
AAM on-line resources for finding session speakers. Once your form is
complete, please submit it to Amber Combs, CARE Program Chair, at the
address below.
